One Missouri Lottery player won $10,000 from Powerball on a free ticket.
Brandy Lawson of Versailles, MO played the new $5 Powerball/Mega Million scratch-off game through the Missouri Lottery. One of the prizes of the scratch-off includes free Powerball or Mega Millions tickets. The top prize is $100,000 and the chances of winning are 1 in 4.03.
Lawson was lucky enough to win a free Powerball ticket. To keep her lucky streak going, Lawson’s free ticket ended up winning her $10,000 on the June 1 Powerballl drawing. Lawson’s Quick Pick ticket matched 4 white balls and the red Power Ball, which equals a $10,000 prize, according to Powerball. Lawson redeemed her winning ticket at Jiffy Stop, 613 W. Newton St., in Versailles.
After realizing she had won, Lawson told officials she began jumping around in excitement. Lawson has a 3-month-old daughter, and aside from taking care of her, Lawson had not thought much of anything else.
Lawson plans to use her winnings to pay off bills and deal with repairs for her car. With the remainder of the money, Lawson plans to treat herself and her daughter to a mother-daughter shopping trip.
Before winning, Lawson was a regular MEga Millions and scratch-off player. Since receiving her prize, Lawson has begun buying more Powerball tickets in hopes to continue her lucky relationship with the game.
While winning with a $2 ticket is fun, a free ticket is always better, Lawson can prove that.
