Feb. 13, 2013 – As part of their ongoing “Get Your Game on” monthly promotions, the Kentucky Lottery is offering its players chances to win free, $2 Powerball tickets next week.
Starting Sunday, Kentucky Lottery players who purchase $10 worth of Decades of Dollars plays on a single ticket will receive a $2 Quick Pick Powerball ticket for free.
The Lottery can only hand out so many free Powerball tickets, so supplies are limited. The promotion officially ends on Saturday, Feb. 22, but the supply of free Powerball tickets could run out before that date.
The Lottery’s “Get Your Game On” promotions held monthly, and a different draw game is featured during each month’s giveaway. Lucky for Powerball players, the Lottery’s free Powerball ticket giveaways could coincide with a massive jackpot – potentially more than $400 million.
Wednesday night, the Powerball jackpot rolled over to sit at an estimated $330 million ahead of Saturday’s drawing. If nobody wins the big prize Saturday night, it could roll past the $400 million mark for the beginning of the Kentucky Lottery’s free Powerball ticket giveaway.
And, while the enormous Powerball jackpot might take center stage in players’ minds right now, Decades of Dollars offers players a chance to win $250,000 per year for 30 years.
Each Decades of Dollars play costs $2, so to score a free Powerball ticket players will need to purchase five plays – either five lines or one line for five consecutive drawings – for Decades of Dollars.
That’s five chances to win Decades of Dollars’ $7.5 million annuity jackpot (which can be taken as a $4 million lump-sum prize). And, of course, one free chance to win the giant Powerball jackpot.
