Lafreniere works as a conductor for Metro-North Railroad in Old Saybrook, CT. Recently, Lafreniere bought a $2 Powerball ticket for the April 24 drawing. On a break between trains, Lafreniere checked his ticket and thought he had won $100,000. Unable to believe he had won so much, Lefreniere checked again, only to realize he had seen it wrong. Lafreniere won $1 million by matching the first 5 numbers in the drawing.

Lafreniere has worked as a conductor for Metro-North Railroad for 17 years, and is completely shocked to win. Lafreniere is excited to be able to provide more for his family and work less hours. After taxes, he will go home with $683,000.
