Connecticut man claims $2 million Powerball prize

One lucky man from Madison, Connecticut was able to win $2 million from the May 25 Powerball drawing.

Michael Carroll of Madison, CT arrived at Connecticut Lottery headquarters to accept his prize of $2 million from the drawing on May 25. Carroll won with MAtch 5 with Power Play. He was able to match the 5 white balls from the drawing, but did not correctly guess the red Power Ball. Carroll picked his own numbers for the the drawing, and says his mind is blown after winning such a massive prize. He chose to spend an extra $1 for Power Play, which made his Match 5 prize rise from $1 million to $2 million.

Carroll used a lottery Ticket Checker, which informed him he had won and needed to go to lottery headquarters, since his prize was more than $600. Carroll’s prize after taxes came in at a one time payment of $1,366,001.

Carroll purchased his winning ticket at Cumberland Farms on Foxon Avenue in North Branford, Connecticut.

He and his wife feel lucky to win. They plan to buy a new home and start a trust fund for each of their four children. They also intend to pay it forward with the remainder of their funds.
