Dec 26, 2013- Wednesday’s Powerball drawing made one lucky person from Missouri’s holiday. A ticket sold in Missouri is now worth $71.5 million after matching all six numbers drawn Wednesday.
Those six numbers were 23, 28, 38, 39, 56 and the red Powerball was 32. While the lucky Missouri ticket was the only to match all six numbers, more than 388,905 Powerball players matched a winning combination of numbers Wednesday.
One of those winners became a millionaire Wednesday after matching all five white balls for Powerball’s $1 million second prize. This ticket was sold in Pennsylvania. The player did not add the PowerPlay option, which would have made their ticket worth $2 million.
In total, 388,905 winners claimed $3,508,261 in non-jackpot prizes Wednesday night.
For the one lucky Missouri winner, the jackpot prize could be the $71.5 million annuity, or the winner could choose the cash value.
According to a local news report the Missouri winner was a retail regular, and was stopping in to buy his morning coffee and donut when he realized he had won.
Wednesday’s jackpot winner has a full year to claim their prize. For the rest of us, daydreaming about hitting the jackpot begins again.
The Powerball jackpot has returned to its $40 million starting point, carrying a cash value of $22.5 million, ahead of Saturday’s drawing.
