Seahawks “12th Man” Honored with New Scratch-off

Aug. 5, 2014 – Seattle Seahawks fans are a special breed, and their team knows that when they hit the field, the “12th man” – all their fans – will be with them the whole way. Now the Washington Lottery wants to help celebrate those die-hard Seahawks fans that can give their team the upper hand, even when they’re away. To do that, the Lottery has released a new game called Seahawks 12 and, along with instant cash prizes, players can also win game day experiences and more through a second chance promotion. The Seahawks 12 tickets each cost $5.  There are four top prizes, each worth $50,000, along with more than $4 million in other cash prizes. But it may not be the cash prizes that the biggest Seahawks fans are hoping for.  The Washington Lottery will hold three second-chance drawings, and will give away eight game day experiences in each drawing. The Game Day prize packages each include a one-night hotel stay, dinner for two, and tickets to one of three games: Oct. 12, against the Dallas Cowboys; Nov. 23, versus the Arizona Cardinals; or Dec. 14, when the ‘hawks will face off against the San Francisco 49ers. Game Day experience winners will also have brunch at CenturyLink Field and take a sideline tour before the game, and they’ll get an autographed football, a Seahawks Pro Shop gift card, and a pack of 50 Seahawks 12 scratch-offs. So, what’s the next best thing to being at the game?  How about watching on a brand new HDTV?  In each of the three second chance drawings, the Lottery will give away four new 65-inch Vizio SmartTVs! If you don’t manage to score one of the top 12 prizes in each second chance drawing, don’t worry.  You could still be one of 12 winners in each drawing to receive a $100 Seahawks Pro Shop gift card – plenty of money to get your official jersey. The first drawing will be held Sept. 17, so there’s...

Washington’s Lottery Continues Record Revenues

Aug. 6, 2013 – Washington’s Lottery announced Monday that it had brought in record-breaking revenues for the second year in a row, surpassing last year’s record of about $535 million in sales by more than $30 million. This year’s $567 million in sales revenue is the fourth time the Lottery has sold more than $500 million in tickets, and is a promising sign of steady, continued growth. While it is nice to know the money’s coming in, the programs that lottery sales help fund are what the Lottery really cares about, and they were thrilled this year to make record returns to education and the state’s general fund. “Washington’s Lottery provides important revenue for our state that helps us do good things for Washingtonians,” said Gov. Jay Inslee. “I look forward to working with the Lottery staff to continue the program’s support of important programs and to build on this year’s successes.” According to the Washington Lottery’s beneficiaries page, the majority of their profits have gone towards the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account since 2010. The Account helps pay for college scholarships for eligible students, and it provides funding to other state financial aid programs.  In fiscal year 2013, Washington’s Lottery was able to generate more than $119 million for the Opportunity Pathways Account. Additionally, the Lottery contributed about $14 million to other state projects through the general fund, including a $10.4 million payment towards CenturyLink Field, where both the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC play. “For 31 years now, this agency has been able to provide support to some important state programs, while also introducing fun games and sparking peoples imagination,” said Washington’s Lottery director Bill Hanson. “We consider our work an investment in Washington State’s future, and our entire staff is proud to celebrate another banner...
