Ohio Lottery’s New Year’s Raffle

Nov. 14, 2014 – In 50 days, four lucky Ohio Lottery players will each win $1 million and kick off the New Year in the best way possible: as a new millionaire! The Ohio Lottery’s New Year’s Raffle is back and players who pick up Raffle tickets before they all sell out will have a chance to win one of four $1 million top prizes, or one of more than 3,000 other cash prizes. This year’s Raffle will only have 500,000 tickets for sale, which makes the odds of winning one of the $1 million top prizes just 1 in 125,000 – the best odds of any of the Ohio Lottery’s games for winning $1 million. And that’s only if all 500,000 tickets sell out – if all of the Raffle tickets aren’t sold before the drawing, the odds of winning will be even better. And with four other prize levels, missing the $1 million prize isn’t so bad.  Players can also win $100, $500, $1,500 or $10,000 prizes. There are 10 prizes worth $10,000; 120 prizes worth $1,500; 1,000 prizes worth $500; and 2,200 prizes worth $100.  That’s a total of 3,330 “non-jackpot” prizes. Along with the $4 million in top prizes, another $1 million will be divvied up among those 3,330 other winners. Tickets for this year’s New Year’s Raffle cost $20 and can be purchased seven days a week at Lottery retailers.  The tickets went on sale at the beginning of this week and will be sold through 12 noon on Jan. 2. The drawing will be held shortly after ticket sales close Jan. 2, and the winning Raffle numbers will be posted by 8:30 p.m. that day, according to the Ohio...

New $2 Cash Explosion Ticket Ups the Ante

Aug. 28, 2014 – The Ohio Lottery has released an all-new $2 Cash Explosion scratch-off ticket that is making one of the state’s favorite games even better. The new ticket now offers a top prize worth $5,000 and has $2 million more in the overall prize pool. According to the Ohio Lottery, the new $2 ticket also offers players better odds of winning smaller cash prizes between $5 and $500 on the new ticket. And, with a new multiplier on the ticket, players can have their winnings doubled or even multiplied five times. Just like older Cash Explosion tickets, the new $2 game offers players a chance to have their moment in the spotlight.  If you uncover the word “Entry” three times as you scratch off your ticket, you’ll be able to enter for a chance to appear on the Cash Explosion television show. There, you’ll be guaranteed to win $5,000, but you’ll have a chance to win as much as $50,000. In addition to a chance to win your spot on the Cash Explosion game show, “Entry” tickets, which players can mail in or enter online, will automatically be entered into a daily drawing for $1,000. The new tickets are also eligible for the monthly bonus drawing, which award 10 lucky players with $1,000 prizes, and another 50 winners score $100 prizes. With the release of the new $2 ticket, the Ohio Lottery says it’s  time for “a new generation of Cash Explosion.”  The older tickets were worth playing just for a chance to take the stage on the Lottery’s game show, but with better odds and more to be won, why not take a chance on that new generation? For more information on the Cash Explosion game show, how to enter, and bonus drawings, go to the Ohio Lottery’s Cash Explosion website.  Good luck!   Photo Credit: DeviantArt User 2bgr8stock. Ohio Ticket Hits Powerball Jackpot

July 10, 2014 – A Powerball ticket sold in Ohio matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, winning a jackpot worth an estimated $124.9 million, with a lump-sum cash option of about $73 million. Wednesday’s was the seventh drawing since the last Powerball jackpot, worth about $260 million, was won by Roy Cockrum in Tennessee. The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night were 9, 25, 42, 55, 57 and the Powerball was 14.  The Power Play multiplier in the drawing was 2x, so players who added the optional multiplier to their tickets and won a prize will receive twice the normal prize value. Along with Wednesday night’s jackpot winner, just one other player can call themselves a multi-millionaire after Wednesday’s drawing.  A ticket sold in North Carolina with the Power Play option added matched all five white numbers but missed the Power ball to win a second prize worth $2 million. Three other winners were also lucky enough to match all five white numbers drawn.  Those three tickets were sold in Florida, Georgia and New Jersey, and each player will receive the normal $1 million second prize. Twenty-two other players were also lucky enough to match five out of the six winning numbers, though they aren’t millionaires today. For matching four white numbers and the Powerball, 21 of these winners will receive Powerball’s $10,000 third prize.  There was one third-prize winner who added the Power Play option to their ticket; they won a $20,000 third prize. Along with the jackpot winner in Ohio, Wednesday night’s drawing made winners of more than 547,000 Powerball players.  All those non-jackpot winners managed to score more than $8.2 million in non-jackpot prizes. Now that the jackpot was won, Powerball’s top prize will reset to its $40 million starting point, with a cash value of about $23 million. While that might not look so big next to the $125 million prize that was just won, $40 million is a life-changing amount of money!  And, when the jackpots are...

Play Multi-State Monopoly Collect and Win Game

Feb. 11, 2014 – Players in five states can play one of the most recognizable and popular games ever made, Monopoly, for a chance to win big cash prizes or even a progressive jackpot. The Monopoly Collect and Win second chance promotion is being offered by the state lotteries in New York, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Arizona.  Players in each state can find the Monopoly Jackpot scratch-off tickets in any lottery retailer. Each state’s Monopoly Jackpot ticket offers a different top prize, but the tickets cost $5 to play in each state.  Players with non-winning Monopoly Jackpot tickets can enter into the multi-state second chance promotion. Just like the classic board game, Monopoly Jackpot second chance players want to collect properties for a chance to collect some cash.  Entering a non-winning Monopoly Jackpot ticket will earn players five rolls of the dice in the virtual version of Monopoly. Players try to land on “property spaces” as they make their way around the virtual game board.  These include railroad spaces, properties, and utilities spaces. When players land on one of these properties they “collect” the property, and collecting a complete set of properties, i.e. three of the same color, all of the railroads, etc., will earn players a spin of the “Bonus Wheel”. The Monopoly Collect and Win Bonus Wheel will award players with either an entry into the monthly jackpot drawing or an instant cash prize called a “Property Jackpot.”  Property Jackpots range from $25 to $2,500. Depending on which properties players have collected, they’ll win a different amount of entries into the monthly jackpot drawing or a different cash prize.  For example, players who collect all four railroad properties can win four to eight entries into the jackpot drawing or a $100 cash prize. The monthly jackpot prize is a progressive jackpot, and grows with every purchase of one of the $5 Monopoly Jackpot scratch-off tickets. Each month, the prize will start its climb from $2,500, but players who hit the monthly jackpot...

Time is Running Out on Ultimate Tailgate Promotion

Feb. 4, 2014 – For Powerball players in some states, the entry period has already closed for Powerball’s Ultimate Tailgate promotion.  For others, there are just days left to enter non-winning Powerball tickets into the contest for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Two hundred contest winners from the 18 states participating in the Ultimate Tailgate promotion will descend on Cleveland, Ohio to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the Pro Football Hall of Fame with Hall of Fame players. The Hall of Fame Fan Festival will be open Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4, and anyone who buys a ticket can attend.  Only the Ultimate Tailgate winners will be able to get to know some of the 100 Hall of Famers who will be in attendance though. Friday, May 2, before the Fan Festival begins, each of the 200 winners and their guests will have dinner with a Pro Football Hall of Famer, kicking off the Ultimate Tailgate party the right way – with food. After dinner, winners and their guests will team up with another Pro Football icon and compete against other contest winners and football greats in an Ultimate Tailgate tournament of classic tailgating games. The Ultimate Tailgate promotion is one even the casual Powerball player shouldn’t miss, and with the Powerball jackpot sitting at $215 million right now, buying a ticket and entering the contest is a two-for-one deal on life-changing opportunities. To enter, players must purchase $10 or more on a single Powerball ticket.  Non-winning tickets can then be entered into the promotion through each participating state lottery. The 18 lotteries participating in the Ultimate Tailgate promotion are: Florida Indiana – Hoosier Lottery Iowa Kansas Kentucky Nebraska New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico New York North Carolina Ohio Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Dakota Tennessee Vermont West Virginia...
