Time is Running Out on Ultimate Tailgate Promotion

Feb. 4, 2014 – For Powerball players in some states, the entry period has already closed for Powerball’s Ultimate Tailgate promotion.  For others, there are just days left to enter non-winning Powerball tickets into the contest for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Two hundred contest winners from the 18 states participating in the Ultimate Tailgate promotion will descend on Cleveland, Ohio to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the Pro Football Hall of Fame with Hall of Fame players. The Hall of Fame Fan Festival will be open Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4, and anyone who buys a ticket can attend.  Only the Ultimate Tailgate winners will be able to get to know some of the 100 Hall of Famers who will be in attendance though. Friday, May 2, before the Fan Festival begins, each of the 200 winners and their guests will have dinner with a Pro Football Hall of Famer, kicking off the Ultimate Tailgate party the right way – with food. After dinner, winners and their guests will team up with another Pro Football icon and compete against other contest winners and football greats in an Ultimate Tailgate tournament of classic tailgating games. The Ultimate Tailgate promotion is one even the casual Powerball player shouldn’t miss, and with the Powerball jackpot sitting at $215 million right now, buying a ticket and entering the contest is a two-for-one deal on life-changing opportunities. To enter, players must purchase $10 or more on a single Powerball ticket.  Non-winning tickets can then be entered into the promotion through each participating state lottery. The 18 lotteries participating in the Ultimate Tailgate promotion are: Florida Indiana – Hoosier Lottery Iowa Kansas Kentucky Nebraska New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico New York North Carolina Ohio Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Dakota Tennessee Vermont West Virginia...

Carolina Cash 5 Bonus Bucks Drawing Next Week

Jan. 29, 2014 – Carolina Cash 5 players who bought a ticket for $5 or more could win up to $50,000 in the North Carolina Lottery’s Bonus Bucks drawing next Wednesday. The Bonus Bucks promotion has been awarding extra cash prizes to Carolina Cash 5 players since November 2012, and after the drawing next week, there will only be two drawings left. Players who bought a $5 Cash 5 ticket before Jan. 22 are already entered into next week’s drawing.  Along with every $5 Carolina Cash 5 ticket, an “entry slip” is printed out with a nine-digit number. This entry slip means that your nine-digit number has been entered into the next Bonus Bucks drawing, and if you win, you’ll need to present the entry slip to claim your prize. In each Bonus Bucks drawing, the Lottery gives away five prizes.  The top prize is worth $50,000, the second prize is worth $5,000, and three third-prize winners get $1,000 prizes. Since the promotion began, the Lottery has given away more than $400,000 in Bonus Bucks prizes, and will give away almost $175,000 in the final three drawings. To make sure you get a chance to win some Bonus Bucks the next time around, pick up a $5 Carolina Cash 5 ticket before March 26 for the next drawing, and before May 28 for the final drawing. Players can buy five lines of play on a single ticket for $5, or can buy an advance play ticket for five drawings with one line of numbers. If you’re already entered for next Wednesday’s drawing, hold onto those entry slips, you’ll need to hand one in if they draw your...

N.C. Online Subscription Service Launching Thursday

Dec. 4, 2013 – The North Carolina Education Lottery announced Tuesday that its online subscription service will launch Thursday, Dec. 5.  The subscription service will allow players to purchase Powerball, Mega Millions, and Carolina Cash 5 tickets through the Lottery’s website. The subscription service requires players to buy a minimum of two weeks worth of tickets for any of the three games.  For Powerball, the two-week minimum puts the lowest possible cost of a subscription at $8 – $2 per draw for four drawings. Mega Millions and Carolina Cash 5 each cost $1 per play, so players who wish to use the subscription will have to part with at least $4 to buy either of those games’ tickets through the player’s club. “We hope the new service will offer a way for those who currently don’t buy tickets at a traditional lottery retailer to try some of our games,” said Alice Garland, the Lottery’s executive director, in a press release. Players who wish to use the subscription service will do so through the Lottery’s Lucke-Zone Player’s Club.  Registering for the player’s club is free and helps the Lottery ensure players are of legal age and live within the state. Safeguards like responsible play limits and geo-location technology, which will “ensure… that no tickets are sold to anyone who is not physically in North Carolina,” have been built into the subscription system. For now, purchases made through the subscription service will have to rely on electronic funds transfers from players’ bank accounts, but the Lottery says they are working to support the use of debit cards. Winnings below $600 will then be deposited directly into players’ bank accounts.  As with traditional brick-and-mortar purchases, prizes worth $600 or more will still need to be claimed in person at the Lottery’s headquarters in Raleigh....

Ultimate Tailgate Party Powerball Promotion

Nov. 8, 2013 – How’d you like to meet a professional football legend?  How about 100 of them?  That’s just the opportunity Powerball players can have if they enter into the Ultimate Tailgate Party promotion in any of 18 participating states. Two hundred contest winners will get a football fan’s dream vacation – a 5-day-long trip to Cleveland, Ohio to celebrate the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 50th anniversary with 100 Hall of Famers at the 2014 Fan Festival. The Fan Festival, which will run May 3 and 4 at the I-X Center in Cleveland, is the first-ever celebration of the fans behind Pro Football and the Hall of Fame, and pro football greats are excited to recognize the fans who supported them as players. Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw said in an I-X Center press release “I realize more than ever how much I owe to the fans… this Fan Fest is a great chance to say thanks to the Hall of Fame fans of the game.” The Fan Festival will feature Hall of Famers discussing next season’s draft, giving commentary through a sports movie film festival, signing autographs and even holding a football clinic on a 100-yard field in the I-X Center. While the Fan Festival will be open to anyone who buys a ticket (ticket sales begin in December), Powerball contest winners will be treated to the Ultimate Tailgate Party the evening before the Fan Festival kicks off.  What’s any pro football event without a great tailgate, right? The 200 winners of the Powerball contest and their lucky guests will get to sit down to dinner with one of the 100 Hall of Famers present.  After dinner, winners will team up with a different Hall of Famer to compete in a tournament of several different games. Each winner will receive round-trip airfare for themselves and three guests.  Once in Cleveland, participating lotteries will also provide them with two hotel rooms, meals and transportation. Along with admission to the Ultimate Tailgate Party...

North Carolina Lottery Announces Online Subscriptions

Sept. 13, 2013 – The North Carolina Lottery announced Thursday that it would begin offering its players an online subscription service through which players can buy their Powerball, Mega Millions, and Carolina Cash 5 tickets. The online service is mostly aimed at making it easier for regular lottery players to buy their tickets.  Only advance-play tickets will be sold through the Lottery’s online subscriptions, and there will be a two-week minimum subscription for all three games. “By making a subscription service available for players who like to buy tickets in advance, we’re making those purchases more convenient and providing better customer service,” said Alice Garland, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery, in a press release. While convenience is key, the online service, which is planned to launch in November, will also feature several security measures and limits to promote responsible gambling. Players who wish to purchase an advance play subscription online will have to sign up for a free account which will allow them to access a secure page on the Lottery’s Lucke-Zone website. The Lottery will verify that people who sign up for the online subscription are 18 or older, and will also make sure they are within the state of North Carolina, before any tickets are sold. To promote responsible play, the Lottery will place a limit on the number of multi-draw tickets players can buy at one time, the same way they do with traditional sales. Subscription players will have to buy their tickets using a debit card, or by transferring money from a bank account.  To play, they’ll choose their game, the number of drawings they’d like to play, and their numbers.  They can then monitor their bets on the website, and will get email alerts if their lucky numbers come up. Winnings under $600 from the online service would be automatically deposited into players’ bank accounts, while players would still be required to claim prizes worth $600 or more at a Lottery...
