Minnesota Raffle is Back!

Oct. 29, 2014 – The Minnesota Lottery began selling tickets for their annual Raffle yesterday, announcing along with the game’s launch that there would be more than 4,000 additional prizes up for grabs this year. Just like Raffles of the past, there are a limited number of tickets being sold – just 700,000 – but as always that means you’ve got better odds of winning $1 million on Raffle than on any other game. With two guaranteed $1 million prizes, your odds of becoming a millionaire are 1 in 350,000, and could be better if the tickets don’t sell out. Players can buy tickets right up until the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, 11:59 and 59 seconds is the cutoff time for Raffle sales.  However, if all of the tickets are sold out before that time, they’re gone for good – be sure to pick up your tickets early! You wouldn’t want to miss your chance at one of more than 4,000 cash prizes or one of 38 awesome bonus prizes. Along with the two million-dollar top prizes, players can also win one of five $100,000 prizes, one of five $25,000 prizes; there are 10 $10,000 prizes, 100 $500 prizes and, finally, 4,000 prizes worth $100. Need a vacation or maybe a new car?  The cash prizes on this year’s Raffle will help, but if you win a bonus prize, you’ll be able to keep the cash and drive off into the sunset anyway. The Lottery will be giving away three Ford vehicles, including a brand-new Mustang convertible.  They’ve also got 20 ways to get out of town – 10 “Luxury Vacation Packages,” and 10 “Travel Packages” – on top of gift cards, gas cards, shopping sprees and more. Tickets for this year’s Raffle cost $10, but the odds of winning any of the prizes are great thanks to the extra 4,000 prizes.  Remember: don’t wait too long to pick up your ticket, they could sell...

Minn. Couple Scoops Hot Lotto Jackpot

Sept. 9, 2014 – Joe and Rhonda Meath of Bethel, Minn., yesterday came forward to collect the $11.7 Hot Lotto jackpot they won just this past Saturday. Joe purchased the winning ticket Saturday morning, and at about 10 p.m. he found out he was rich.  The ticket matched all six winning numbers in Saturday’s Hot Lotto drawing: 1, 2, 3, 25, 30 and the Hot Ball, 19. “I sat there for about an hour [checking and re-checking the ticket],” Joe told Minnesota Lottery officials Monday.  “Then I woke Rhonda up.” While nearly $12 million would be reason enough for anyone to celebrate, the Meaths kept it rather low-key.  The couple said Monday that they only called three of their four children to share the big news – the fourth had a test the next day, so they figured they’d let her sleep. And, despite becoming multi-millionaires over the weekend, they’re “not going to do anything out of the ordinary,” Joe said. “Have to still mow the grass and get mail and put grandkids on the school bus,” Rhonda told ABC News.  She even went to her job waiting tables Monday evening, saying she enjoys her job and has no plans of leaving now that there’s a jackpot in the bank. While they don’t plan on making any big lifestyle changes, the couple did say they’d be buying a new car, and Joe and Rhonda each had their own ideas for charitable donations. Rhonda, who trains therapy dogs when she’s not waiting tables, said she’ll donate some money to the St. Paul Police K-9 Foundation, where she volunteers. Joe, who is retired, told ABC News that he’d be contributing to a college fund for the teenage cashier who sold him his lucky...

The new game offers 14 different prizes starting at $1, and there is nearly $800,000 in prize money to be won on the online scratch-off. Since launching Thursday, more than 300 players have won playing Spicy 7s; the online scratch-off paid out about $725 in prizes on its first day. While players must physically be in the state of Minnesota to make a purchase, a free trial version of the online scratch-off is available on the Lottery’s website. To register for the Lottery’s subscription service, players must provide basic personal information so the Minnesota Lottery can verify players are of age and live in the state of Minnesota. Players also need to provide information to create an online “Wallet” where winnings under $600 from the online scratch-off game or any of the Lottery’s draw games can be deposited. The online scratch-off game is the first instant game available through the Lottery’s website, though their subscription service has been providing players with tickets to six of the Lottery’s draw games since...

All or Nothing Game Launched in Iowa, Minnesota

Jan. 24, 2014 – The Iowa and Minnesota Lotteries have teamed up to offer players in both states a new draw game called “All or Nothing” with a unique style of play. All or Nothing, as the name might suggest, pays out if players match all of the winning numbers or none of them. The jackpot prize for the game is $100,000, and players must pick 12 numbers from a set of 24.  When the winning numbers are drawn, if a player matches all 12 correctly or doesn’t match any numbers, they win the $100,00 jackpot prize. “If you never match anything in lottery drawings, we have the game for you,” said Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich. Minnesota Lottery Director Ed Van Petten said they “couldn’t decide if people should win for matching them all or coming up empty, so we decided ‘Heck, let’s do both.'” Along with the All or Nothing jackpot there are another eight ways to win a prize on the game.  Players can win the $1,000 second prize by matching 11 numbers or just matching one number. There are also prizes for matching 10 numbers or just two, nine numbers or only three, and eight numbers or four. The game will make its debut in both states Tuesday, Jan. 28.  There will be two drawings each day, at 12:45 p.m and 8:45 p.m., and sales will close about 35 minutes prior to each drawing. The unique style of play is offered by other U.S. lotteries and, according to the Iowa and Minnesota Lotteries, All or Nothing is an ever-popular game. “We’re looking forward to this lotto-with-a-twist concept, and we think our two states will have fun with it too,” Rich said....

Tickets Running Out For Minn. Millionaire Raffle

Dec. 13, 2013 – The Minnesota Lottery’s website shows that only 15 percent of tickets remain for this year’s Minnesota Millionaire Raffle.  There are still more than two weeks left before the winning numbers are drawn, making a sellout very likely. The Minnesota Lottery printed just 600,000 of the Millionaire Raffle tickets and began selling them Oct. 29.  Now, after just over six weeks, only about 90,000 of the $10 tickets remain. For Minnesota Lottery players, the quick sales may not come as a surprise.  The Millionaire Raffle offers players the very best odds for winning $1 million.  There’s two of the million-dollar prizes up for grabs this year, so the odds of winning either are just 1 in 300,000. This year’s Millionaire Raffle won’t just help two lucky winners ring in the New Year’s though.  In fact, the Minnesota Lottery has more than 100 cash prizes and more than 30 bonus prizes to award New Year’s Day. Some of the most exciting of those bonus prizes are the three Ford vehicles that the Minnesota Lottery will raffle off to players.  They’ve got brand new, 2014 models for three lucky winners, a Mustang convertible and the Edge and Explorer SUV’s. The drop-top Mustang is valued at more than $43,000, the Edge is worth a bit more than $50,500, and the Explorer is valued at more than $52,000.  The best part?  The Minnesota Lottery is paying all the taxes on these brand new cars. The Lottery also has 20 vacation packages up for grabs.  Ten of these prizes are “luxury vacation” packages worth nearly $15,000 (including $3,000 in cash), and the other ten are “travel packages” including $3,000 in travel vouchers and $2,000 in cash. The Millionaire Raffle will give away groceries, gas, gift cards and more on New Year’s Day, and it’s looking like tickets will sell out soon. Check out the Millionaire Raffle webpage on the Minnesota Lottery’s website for the full details on prizes, rules and drawing information.  Good luck!  Remember, you...
