Michigan Lottery’s First Poker Lotto Jackpot Winner

Nov. 14, 2013 – The Michigan Lottery announced Thursday that a player from Detroit won the $100,000 jackpot on Poker Lotto Wednesday night. The winning ticket was sold at Matthew’s Food Liquor & Wine on W. McNichols Rd., according to the Michigan Lottery’s website. The poker hand from Wednesday’s nightly Poker Lotto drawing was a 7 of spades, 3 of spades, Queen of hearts, 6 of hearts, and 10 of clubs. This first jackpot win comes just shy of a month since the game launched Oct. 19.  While nobody had won the $100,000 jackpot before Wednesday, thousands of players win every day with Poker Lotto’s instant game and nightly drawing. Poker Lotto doesn’t require any actual poker knowledge to play (poker players will notice that the winning cards above do not make a real poker hand).  In the nightly drawing, all that Poker Lotto players need to do is get lucky and match all five cards drawn in both number and suit. But the nightly drawings are only half the fun of Poker Lotto.  The game also includes an instant game that gives players a chance to win up to $5,000. Poker hands matter in the instant game, but poker knowledge is still not required.  Tickets print out with a message informing players if they’ve won an instant prize, and ticket terminals will indicate the same. Multi-State Raffle Makes Three New Millionaires

Nov. 4, 2013 – The multi-state raffle, Halloween-themed in five of the seven participating states, ended Friday as the Grand Prize drawing awarded three $1 million prizes to players in three states. The three $1 million tickets were sold in New Jersey, Michigan and Ohio.  Michigan’s winning number was 030833, the New Jersey ticket was number 0076334, and Ohio’s winning ticket was number 42167. The raffle began with just two $1 million prizes, but because of the number of tickets sold, an announcement was made on Halloween, less than 24 hours ahead of the drawing – that a third top prize would be added. The remaining four states without a $1 million winner, Iowa, Indiana, New York and Oklahoma each had their own, state-exclusive drawing for a $50,000 second prize.  Click the links above or head to the state Lottery’s website to find second-prize winning numbers. With the excitement around the multi-state raffle over, players might find themselves looking for a new multi-state contest. That makes it the perfect time to get involved in the Powerball Ultimate Tailgate promotion, which participating states are beginning to offer for their players.  (Read this post from Rhode Island to get an idea of what the Ultimate Tailgate promotion is offering.)...

Third Top Prize Added to Multi-State Raffle

Oct. 31, 2013 – With the sales cut-off for the multi-state raffle looming, the Oklahoma Lottery announced Thursday that a third $1 million prize will be awarded during the Nov. 1 drawing. Tickets for the raffle are available only in the seven participating states, New York, New Jersey, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Oklahoma.  Five of those states have dubbed the raffle a “Halloween Raffle.”  Ohio is calling it the Multi-State Millions Raffle, and Oklahoma has named their version of the game the National Millionaire Raffle. Oklahoma Lottery Director Rollo Redburn said in a press release that the Lottery was “excited to add another million dollar prize to the raffle.” “We encourage anyone that wants to participate in the raffle to get their tickets now,” Redburn said. Tickets for the raffle are $10 in all seven of the participating states, and can be found at any regular Lottery retailer.  Ticket sales for the multi-state game close at 11:59 p.m. Halloween night, and the final drawing will be held Nov. 1. Once the final drawing chooses winning numbers for the three $1 million prizes, each state without a $1 million winner will hold its own drawing for a $50,000 second...

Michigan Lottery Launches Poker Lotto

Oct. 21, 2013 – The Michigan Lottery held the first drawing for its new Poker Lotto game Saturday, paying out prize money this weekend to thousands of drawing winners and winners of Poker Lotto’s instant game. The new $2 daily game is modeled after five-card poker, but players don’t need to learn how to keep a straight face at the table.  Each ticket will print out with five “cards” randomly chosen from a regular deck of 52. If the cards printed on a ticket make a poker hand – a pair of jacks or better – players will win an instant prize.  The top prize on the instant-win Poker Lotto game is $5,000 for a Royal Flush. The Michigan Lottery has a helpful list of poker hands on their website, along with the corresponding prizes players can win on the Poker Lotto instant game. Just to be sure nobody misses out on an instant win, Michigan Lottery terminals will also flash a message and announce to players that they’ve won an instant prize. The nightly drawing for Poker Lotto gives players – even those who won an instant prize the same day – a chance to win up to $100,000. The drawing works much like any other numbers draw game.  Players must match the cards on their ticket to five winning cards drawn each night.  A poker “hand” matching all five winning cards drawn is worth $100,000. Ticket sales for Michigan’s Poker Lotto end at 7:08 p.m., and each night’s drawing will be held at 7:29 p.m. Much like the new Poker Lotto game introduced by the Hoosier Lottery in late August, Michigan’s Poker Lotto seems to be an instant success with players. More than 10,000 players won a prize from the nightly drawings this weekend, and more than 30,000 players won instant prizes after purchasing their...

Multi-state Halloween Millions Raffle is ready to spook your state

Get ready for spooks, scares, and dollars with the Halloween Millions Raffle coming soon from 7 state lotteries: New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Oklahoma and Iowa. Summer is ending and Autumn is almost here. With Autumn comes the holiday of frights: Halloween. Celebrated every year on October 31, Halloween is one of the most celebrated holidays in the United States, giving everyone a chance to dress up as someone or something else and attempt to scare the wits out of everyone. If you want to dress up as a millionaire this year, you might not have to pretend. According to La Fleur’s Magazine’s August 2013 issue, six states will be selling the multi-state raffle, mostly with a Halloween theme.  the Ohio Lottery will be selling raffle tickets under the name “Multi-State Millions Raffle”, and Oklahoma has named their part of the raffle the “National Millionaire Raffle.” This game will give players the chance to play for some of the best odds at winning $1 million. Entry to play only requires the purchase of a $10 game. The raffle will be available for players in New York, New Jersey Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Iowa who want to get an extra trick-or-treat from their state lottery. The New York Lottery has not held a raffle in the past few years. They believe this game will get New Yorkers more excited about their state lottery. The Halloween Millions multi-state raffle will be the first of its kind to take place in multiple states, giving the Multi-State Lottery Association a chance to bring their members together. The New York Lottery Commission, along with the Ohio Lottery Commission, believe this endeavor will provide minimal financial risk for the participating lotteries. The game will give lotteries the chance to sell draw game tickets at a premium price of $10. The Halloween Millions Raffle will be played on a pari-mutuel basis. This means the number of winners is determined by the number of entries in the participating states. Each...

Have You Played Michigan’s New Skee Ball Scratch-Off?

July 8, 2013 – Last week, the Michigan Lottery introduced its brand new Skee Ball scratch-off game and a special second-chance promotion called Skee Ball Challenge. The $2 scratch-off ticket offers a top prize of $30,000 (an oversized check is definitely  better than an oversized teddy bear) and players with non-winning tickets can enter into the Skee Ball Challenge for a chance to win $100 in free tickets. To win the Skee Ball Challenge, players can enter their non-winning ticket codes at www.skeeballchallange.com to play an online, digital version of classic Skee Ball. You’ll get ten shots at the Skee Ball board with three different colored balls.  Each different color represents a multiplier for the number of points you score with that color. A grey ball is simply worth the number of points you roll into (a 1x multiplier). A red ball is worth twice as many points as the target it lands in, and a blue ball is worth four times as many points as the target you hit. For any ball that you can roll into a target glowing yellow on the Skee Ball challenge, you’ll get an extra ball. Then, at the end of each week from July to December 30, the Skee Ball Challenge player with the highest score on the leaderboard will get $100 worth of free Michigan Lottery scratch-off tickets. The Michigan Lottery didn’t want to limit the Skee Ball fun, so they’ve decided that the Skee Ball challenge will be open to players of the Fantasy 5 draw game as well. Any non-winning Fantasy 5 ticket purchased between July 2 and July 29 will be eligible for the Skee Ball challenge, so log on and start rolling! The Skee Ball scratch off game is also eligible for entry into the Michigan Lottery’s “Play it Again” second-chance drawing, where non-winning tickets can be entered into drawings with grand prizes of $1 million....
