Sept. 16, 2014 – The Louisiana Lottery will hold a special contest at the end of this week, and they’ll be giving away college football “Gameday Prize Packages” for fans of eight universities in the state. The Fan’s Choice VIP Experience giveaway will begin Thursday, Sept. 18, and the entry period for the contest will close at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. The eight colleges playing along with the Louisiana Lottery are: Louisiana Tech University, McNeese State University, Northwestern State University, Southern University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Grambling State University, Tulane University and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Each school has created its own customized prize for Louisiana Lottery players to win.  Some include endzone seats, others offer tickets to watch a game with the Athletic Director; there are even tours, meet-and-greets and college football memorabilia up for grabs along with game tickets. To enter the contest, Louisiana Lottery players just need to check out the Louisiana Lottery’s Facebook page.  There, they’ll find a link to a designated Facebook app where they can enter their information and submit an entry into the contest. Winners will be chosen and notified on Monday, Sept. 22, and will have two days to accept their prizes. Each winner will receive two game tickets, and according to the contest rules, the winner and their guest must both be 21 years old or older to attend the game. All but one of the games that Fan’s Choice winners can win tickets to are scheduled for October.  Southern University’s Gameday Prize Package includes tickets to their Nov. 1 game against Alabama State. Louisiana Powerball Prizes Will Expire Soon

July 17, 2014 – There are two $10,000 Powerball prizes still waiting to be claimed in Louisiana.  Both third prizes were won Feb. 15 of this year after they matched four white numbers and the red Powerball. The winning numbers in that night’s drawing were 2, 9, 14, 21, 23, and the Powerball was 3. Louisiana Lottery players have 180 days – about six months – from the date of the drawing to claim prizes, so at 5 p.m. on Aug. 14, both prizes will be deposited into the Lottery’s unclaimed prize fund. Then, the winners who never claimed their $10,000 prizes would be sharing the wealth – literally.  The Lottery’s unclaimed prize fund is paid back to players in the form of increased payouts on scratch-offs and promotions, according to a Lottery press release. Louisiana Lottery President Rose Hudson said in a press release yesterday that the winners – whoever they may be – should treat their winning tickets like cash. Because lottery tickets are bearer instruments – meaning the ticket holder is the owner of the prize – it’s important that winners sign the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they’re ready to come forward and claim their prize. When that time comes, Louisiana’s two $10,000 winners can pick up their oversized checks at any of the Lottery’s five regional offices, or at Louisiana Lottery headquarters in Baton...

Lotto Lagniappe Starting March 1

Feb. 27, 2014 – The Lousiana Lottery on Thursday announced that Lotto Lagniappe, a promotional game for Lotto players, will open Saturday, March 1. Once per month, the Louisiana Lottery will hold a Lotto Lagniappe Raffle drawing to decide seven winners, including one lucky winner to receive a $50,000 Lagniappe prize. Starting Saturday, when players purchase a $5 Lotto ticket for a single draw, a second ticket will print out with their Lotto purchase.  That second ticket will have a seven-digit raffle number for Lotto Lagniappe printed on it. The promotion will run from Saturday to June 30, and the final of four monthly drawings will be held July 1. The first drawing, for which tickets purchased between March 1 and March 31 will be eligible, is scheduled for April 1. Players who make a qualifying, $5 Lotto purchase should remember to grab their Lagniappe ticket too, because along with the one $50,000 top prize, there will be one second prize worth $5,000 and five third prizes worth $1,000. And, while the Lotto Lagniappe drawings will only be held once a month, Lotto drawings are held twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are four prizes players can win on Lotto, including the progressive jackpot, which starts at $250,000 and grows each night nobody matches all six winning numbers. “Now is the perfect time to give Lotto a try, especially since its jackpot has reached $1,150,000 for Saturday’s drawing” said Louisiana Lottery President Rose Hudson in a press release.   Photo Credit: Randy Heintz.  Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Generic 2.0...

There will be five of the “Duck Dynasty”-themed tickets.  Four will feature either Willy, Jase, Phil, or Si – the central “characters” in the reality TV series – and a fifth ticket will feature a photo of the four heavily bearded men together. “The Duck Dynasty brand brings to mind family values, honest hard work, family fun and making it big – which are all near and dear to Louisiana Lottery players,” said Rose Hudson, president of the Louisiana Lottery. “The Lottery was eager to bring these Monroe boys’ brand of southern ingenuity and their down-home sense of humor to a Lottery game,” Hudson said. The new tickets will each cost $5, and offer players six chances to win $100,000 top prizes.  There are more than $5.7 million in prizes for players to win, and the odds of winning any of those prizes are 1 in 4.
