There are three prize packs being given away.  Each contains $20 worth of the Iowa Lottery’s new Bags of Money scratch-off game and an Iowa Lottery t-shirt and tote bag. Bags of Money is a $1 scratch-off game, and each ticket offers a top prize worth $1,000. Through a special second chance promotion for their 5X, 10X, 15X and 20X scratch-off tickets, the Iowa Lottery will give away some spending cash, a tent camper, a fishing boat and a pontoon boat. For a chance to win one of the four prizes up for grabs, enter the code from one of the four games into the “Sun time, Fun time,” contest on the Lottery’s website before noon on Sept. 2. Players can enter 5X tickets for a chance to win $500, 10X tickets can be entered into a drawing for the tent camper, the second-chance prize for 15X tickets is the fishing boat, and 20X tickets can be entered for a chance to win the pontoon boat. The tent camper is valued at about $12,000 and can sleep two.  Inside, the camper also has a refrigerator, a range, space to eat and storage. The winner of the 15X second chance drawing will find themselves relaxing in a 16-foot Tracker fishing boat.  The prize package is valued at about $15,000 and also includes a trailer and a motor for the boat. Man Wins Lottery 42 Times in one Day

Feb. 24, 2014 – Last Thursday was a lucky day for Wiley Tuley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Tuley bought 14 tickets for Thursday’s Pick 4 drawing and won $200,000 thanks to “a little science.. and a little luck,” he said. Tuley, 70, told the Iowa Lottery that even though lottery games are random players need to “just execute a plan.  That’s what I did, and it worked.” He told the Lottery his plan was worked out to deliver $200,000 if his lucky numbers – 1, 9, 4, 3 – came up. Tuley’s plan worked after he matched his numbers last Thursday to win 32 prizes worth $6,000, two prizes worth $3,000 and eight other prizes worth $250 for the $200,000 grand total. He told the Lottery that he doesn’t play those numbers every day, but if the winning numbers on a certain day meet his criteria, he’ll play one of his lucky number sets the next day. Three of his birth-year numbers came up in Wednesday’s drawing, so Tuley decided to play Thursday – which turned out to definitely be a good decision. This isn’t the first time Tuley’s strategy for the game has paid off in a big way, either.  The retired electronics technician won two prizes worth $12,000 each on the July 11, 2009 Pick 4 drawing. He also won a total of more than $9,000 between two drawings in January and February of 2010. Tuley told the Lottery that he did have an idea of what he’d do with the money, though he wouldn’t say what he was planning, just that after collecting his prize Friday he was most looking forward to surprising his wife, Carol with the news of his biggest win yet.   Photo Credit: DeviantArt User 2bgr8stock.  Licensed Under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0...

Iowa’s All or Nothing Game an Instant Hit

Feb. 5, 2014 – All or Nothing, the new draw game that launched last Tuesday in Iowa and Minnesota was instantly popular with lottery players in both states. Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich told the Iowa Lottery Board last week that he was surprised by the fast-paced sales on the game’s first day. “I figured we might sell.. a thousand dollars worth [of tickets],” Rich said.  “We sold $5,000 before [the first drawing] … $28,000 on the first day, with no real marketing at all yet, just the announcement of the game.” All or Nothing features a unique play-style that offers a $100,000 top prize.  Players choose 12 numbers out of 24, and if they match all 12 numbers drawn, they win the $100,000 prize.  However, tickets matching none of the 12 numbers drawn will also win the $100,000 prize. There are smaller prizes for matching one, two, three or four numbers, as well as prizes for matching eight, nine, 10 or 11 numbers. There are two drawings held each day, at 12:45 p.m.  and 8:45 p.m.  Over the course of the first week that All or Nothing has been available in Iowa, the midday drawing has paid out about $30,000 and the evening drawing has paid out about $60,000. There have been 12 second-prize winners so far in Iowa.  Three of those winners matched 11 numbers in the drawings, the other nine matched just one number.  All 12 will receive $1,000 prizes. Since All or Nothing launched last Tuesday, more than 35,000 Iowa Lottery players have won one of the ten prizes, though nobody has matched all or none of the winning numbers to win the $100,000 top prize. The Minnesota Lottery teamed up with the Iowa Lottery to launch the All or Nothing game, but the number of winners at each prize level, for each drawing, is not provided on their website, Minnesota All or Nothing players can find the winning numbers on the Lottery’s All or Nothing webpage, and Iowa Lottery players can...
