Idaho Jackpot Winners Make History

Oct. 2, 2014 – The Idaho Lottery today announced that for the first time in their history, two players had won Idaho-only jackpots on the same night. Wednesday’s lucky winners hit jackpots in the Lottery’s new Idaho Bingo game and their Weekly Grand Game. The new Idaho Bingo game has a top prize worth $100,000, and the first jackpot win comes six weeks after the game’s launch. Weekly Grand, as the name suggests, pays out an after-tax total of $1,000 a week for a whole year, a $52,000 after-tax value. According to an Idaho Lottery press release, the Weekly Grand winner, William Ross of Meridian, claimed his jackpot prize Thursday morning. The jackpot win was apparently Ross’ first-ever Weekly Grand ticket.  During a press conference Thursday, he said he and his wife just moved to Idaho to be closer to family.  It was an exciting morning for the Ross family; William said even their dog got excited. The Idaho Bingo jackpot has yet to be claimed, and Idaho Lottery Director Jeff Anderson has asked that all Idaho Bingo players carefully check their tickets. The jackpot-winning ticket, he said, “is unique in that the winning pattern is in the shape of a diamond.”  Players can find the winning Idaho Bingo on the Lottery’s winning numbers page,...

25th Anniversary Giveaways Start Soon

March 6, 2014 – In less than three weeks the Idaho Lottery will kick off its monthly giveaways of $2,500 to help celebrate their 25th anniversary. The second chance promotional giveaways go hand-in-hand with one of the Lottery’s newest scratch-off games, 25 Anniversary, which was released midway through February. The scratch-off game, which costs $25, is “all about the 25s,” according to Idaho Lottery Director Jeff Anderson.  The game features a $250,000 top prize, lots of prizes worth $25 and $250. For players who don’t win the first time around, the monthly giveaways are a great opportunity to take a second chance on those non-winning tickets. There will be five drawings beginning March 25 and ending shortly after the Lottery’s big anniversary celebration July 19.  In each of the five drawings, one player will be chosen to win a $2,500 second chance prize. In the fifth and final drawing, one player will also win a grand prize worth $25,000 – definitely a reason to celebrate 25 years of the Idaho Lottery. Anderson said the new game and the second-chance promotion are “really a thank you our players, our retail partners and our beneficiaries.” To enter into the monthly second chance drawings, players will need to register with the Idaho Lottery’s VIP Club.  Registration is simple and free, and provides players access to all of the Lottery’s second chance promotions and their VIP Rewards...

Idaho Lottery’s Raffle Returning Halloween

Oct. 22, 2013 – The Idaho Lottery is bringing back it’s $1,000,000 Raffle this Halloween, and they’re giving players daily opportunities to win $100. This year will mark the seventh year that the Idaho Lottery has held the Raffle, and along with the guaranteed $1 million prize, there will be more than 4,400 smaller prizes ranging from $25 to $10,000. There will also be daily drawings to award one winner with a $100 prize, so the earlier players buy their tickets, the more chances they have to win. When players buy a ticket from an Idaho Lottery retailer, they’ll receive a voucher to enter into the $100 drawings online.  Tickets that win a $100 prize will still be eligible for other prizes, and the daily drawings will be held through November 26. Though the full details for this year’s Raffle have not been released, the Idaho Lottery has only sold 250,000 tickets in years past, and if all tickets are sold before the scheduled Grand Prize drawing, the date could be moved up. Tickets will go on sale at 4 a.m. MT on Halloween, giving early risers (or late-night mischief-makers) a chance to get the first Raffle tickets of the...

Idaho Lottery’s Scratch For Schools Today

Oct. 17, 2013 – In 2001, the Idaho Lottery began hosting a scratch-off “contest” called Scratch for Schools, which pays prizes directly to schools through a fun event. The twelfth Scratch for Schools event is being held today, and representatives from schools across the state are hoping to hit the jackpot on at least one scratch-off ticket today. Teams are made up of three adults, 18 or older – no students are allowed to participate – and will dress to show off their school spirit, either in costumes or just in their school’s colors. Each team of three school representatives is given 300 scratch-offs and a special scratching tool for the contest.  For five minutes, teams will scratch as quickly as they can to (hopefully) uncover big winnings. At the end of the five minutes, teams can tally up their winnings and bring it all back to their school.  Any prize uncovered during the scratch-off contest is theirs to keep (though it takes a couple days for prize money to come through). According to the Idaho Press-Tribune, the schools generally use the extra funds for library books, playground equipment, technology improvements or other projects. Thursday’s Scratch for Schools will be held at 4 p.m. in the Simplot Dining Hall at the College of Idaho.   Photo Credit: John Walker.  Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution...
