Decades of Dollars Game Ending

Aug. 11, 2014 – Arkansas, Georgia, and Kentucky  Lottery players have only a few drawings left before Decades of Dollars, a twice-weekly, multi-state draw game with a top prize of $250,000 per year for 30 years, ends its run. Decades of Dollars was launched in each of the three states and Virginia in 2011 and is now being discontinued to make way for a new multi-state, premium draw game. The final Decades of Dollars drawing in each state will be Thursday, Oct. 16, which leaves just 20 more drawings in the game’s run. Each ticket costs $2, and the game is played much the same as Powerball or Mega Millions: players choose six numbers between 1 and 47, then try to match their ticket to the six winning numbers in each drawing. Players who match all six numbers win the quarter-million-dollar per year prize, but there are three other prizes that players can win with Decades of Dollars. Players can win the game’s second prize, worth $10,000, by matching five of the six winning numbers.  Matching four numbers will win players a $100 prize, the prize for matching three numbers is $10, and players who match two numbers win $2 or a free ticket. Decades of Dollars drawings are held every Monday and Thursday at 11 p.m. ET.  After the drawing tonight, Monday, Aug. 11, advance play sales will begin being limited to the number of drawings remaining; 19 plays after tonight’s drawing, 18 after Thursday’s drawing, and so on....

Natural State Jackpot at Record High

March 20, 2014 – The Arkansas Lottery’s Natural State Jackpot game will feature its largest-ever prize in tonight’s drawing a $300,000 jackpot that has been growing since January. The last jackpot won on the game was a $295,000 prize – then the record high – won on Jan. 14, 2014. After a Natural State Jackpot is won, the jackpot resets to a $25,000 starting point and grows by $5,000 each time nobody wins the top prize.  The now-record $300,000 jackpot has rolled over a whopping 55 times since the last jackpot win. The jackpot prize has survived six drawings each week for the past nine weeks or so – two months and six days – to reach the record height, and it could keep growing. That’s only if nobody matches all five numbers in tonight’s drawing, though, and “record jackpot” tends to bring a bit of a jump in ticket sales for any game. Playing the $1 game is very easy – anyone could be the record jackpot winner tonight.  Simply plunk down a dollar bill at your nearest lottery retailer, choose five numbers, 1-39, or get a Quick Pick and keep your fingers crossed. Natural State Jackpot is drawn Monday through Saturday at 8 p.m., and players can pick up their tickets up to 7:59 p.m., just one minute before the drawing. Natural State Jackpot tickets are eligible for the Arkansas Lottery’s Points for Prizes program too.  Just look for the Points for Prizes code, log in or register for the Prize Store, and enter your...

Third Bass Pro Shops Gift Card Entry Period Begins

Feb. 6, 2014 – The Arkansas Lottery on Wednesday held the second of four drawings in their Bass Pro Shops second chance promotion, choosing one lucky second chance player as the winner of a $500 Bass Pro Shops Gift Card. Starting today, players can enter non-winning Bass Pro Shops scratch-off tickets for the third drawing, which will award another lucky player with a $500 gift card to Bass Pro Shops. All of the Arkansas Lottery’s scratch-offs are eligible for Play it Again drawings, where players can get a second chance to win the top prize offered on the Lottery’s scratch-offs. Players who don’t win any of the instant prizes on the Bass Pro Shops scratch-off ticket can enter their non-winning tickets into a Play it Again drawing for a second chance at the game’s $100,000 top prize. When players enter Bass Pro Shop tickets into the Play it Again drawing, they will automatically be entered into the third gift card drawing and the Grand Prize drawing for the Bass Pro Shops second chance promotion. The entry deadline for both the third gift card drawing and the Grand Prize drawing May 14.  Both drawings will be held May 20, and the Grand Prize drawing will award one winner with an 18-foot, 8-inch long Nitro Z-7 Bass Boat, worth about $25,000. Along with a second chance to win the scratch-off’s $100,000 top prize, the $500 Bass Pro Shops gift card and the new Nitro boat, players will also receive points for the Lottery’s Points for Prizes store, which features hundreds of goods from top brands. To enter tickets, players must be sign in or register with The Club from the Arkansas Lottery.  Registering is simple and free, and gives players access to all of the Lottery’s second chance drawings and promotions as well as their Digital Marketplace.   Photo Credit: Ankara.  Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution...

Arkansas Million Dollar Raffle Coming to a Close

Dec. 5, 2013 – The Arkansas Lottery’s Million Dollar Raffle, which went on sale back on Sept. 1, is in the final stretch.  The third and final Early Bird drawing was held Tuesday, leaving less than a month for players to join the action before the Grand Prize Drawing. Since the first of the three Early Bird drawings for the Million Dollar Raffle, 33 winners have been named.  In each of those preliminary drawings, one winner scored a $10,000 prize, and 10 more were awarded $1,000 prizes. Now, like the Arkansas Lottery’s Facebook Page says, “here comes the big one.” One lucky Grand Prize winner will be awarded with the $1 million prize all of the Lottery’s players have been hoping for since the beginning of September. Along with that million-dollar prize, the Lottery will be giving away $250,000 in smaller cash prizes to more than 100 winners. Five Million Dollar Raffle tickets will be drawn for $100,000 prizes, ten more players will win $10,000, and 100 fourth-prize winners will score $500 prizes. Players must buy their Million Dollar Raffle tickets by Dec. 31, two days ahead of the Jan. 2 Grand Prize Drawing. The results of all three Early Bird drawings are posted on the Million Dollar Raffle webpage.  Players who purchased tickets in time for any of the Early Bird Drawings are still eligible to win a prize in the Grand Prize drawing, so don’t count out your tickets from the Early Bird drawings just yet, they could be worth $1 million.   Photo Credit: Randy Heintz.  Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Generic 2.0...

Keno Decision Up to Ark. Lottery Commission

Oct. 2, 2013 – Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel yesterday released his opinion that the Arkansas Lottery Commission was ultimately responsible for determining if Keno, or other such terminal games, were permissible in the state. McDaniel’s opinion was in response to Arkansas Rep. Mark Perry, chairman of the Lottery Oversight Committee, who asked McDaniel in July whether Keno would be legal to offer in the state. McDaniel said in his opinion that nothing in the Act creating the Lottery or in Lottery Operational Rules would prohibit a Keno-type game being offered. Specifically in question was the system by which Keno is played, where players place bids at a terminal, and numbers are generated at specific time intervals and displayed on the same screen. Lottery Director Bishop Woosley has suggested to the Arkansas Lottery Commission that this play style could bring in extra revenue for the lottery. However, some state lawmakers, including Gov. Mike Beebe, are opposed to the new play style. In June, Beebe told local ABC affiliate KATV that introducing Keno, in his opinion, would ” further exacerbate the issues.” surrounding the Lottery.  He said people should focus on the dollars the Arkansas Lottery is already raising, rather than looking for...

Million Dollar Raffle Early Bird Drawing Tomorrow

Sept. 30, 2013 – Tonight is the last chance Arkansas Lottery players will have to enter into the first Early Bird drawing for the Arkansas Lottery’s Million Dollar Raffle. The Arkansas Lottery began selling tickets for the Million Dollar Raffle Sept. 1, and as September draws to a close, Arkansas Lottery players have just a few hours before they’ll miss the cutoff for the first of three Early Bird drawings. Each of the three Early Bird drawings will be giving Million Dollar Raffle players a shot at a $10,000 top prize, or one of ten $1,000 second prizes. Tickets purchased by midnight tonight will be eligible for all three Early Bird drawings and the final drawing. Winning an Early Bird drawing does not make a ticket ineligible for the final drawing, which will decide the winner of a $1 million grand prize and $650,000 in smaller prizes, starting at $100,000. The final drawing will be held January 2, and the Early Bird drawings will all be in the beginning of the months leading up.  Tomorrow, Oct. 1 will be the first Early Bird drawing.  The second will be held Nov. 5, and the third will be held Dec. 3. Results for tomorrow’s Million Dollar Raffle Early Bird drawing should be available at retail locations or on the Million Dollar Raffle page at myarkansaslottery.com by “midday or earlier” tomorrow, according to the Lottery’s website.   Photo Credit: Randy Heintz.  Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Generic 2.0...
