July 31, 2015 – One lucky Georgia Lottery player is enjoying the new car smell today after winning the very first of 10 Kia Optimas the Lottery plans to give away over the next few months. The winner can drive away in their prize thanks to the Georgia Lottery’s Jackpot scratch-off games and the corresponding online contest.  The first of ten weekly drawings was held yesterday. The Jackpot second chance contest will give away a 2015 Kia Optima EX each week until October 1.  Each car has an estimated retail value of $25,000, and includes leather seats, a push-button ignition, Bluetooth hands-free systems and Sirius XM satellite radio. Georgia Lottery players can only enter non-winning Jackpot series tickets into the second chance contest, and must be registered for the Lottery’s VIP club to enter.  According to the contest’s official rules, the Lottery will only accept online entries, mailed entries will be thrown out. Before you start dreaming about your new Kia Optima, remember that the Jackpot series tickets each offer incredible cash prizes, too.  There are four different tickets available, including the most affordable $1 ticket and most expensive $20 ticket, and the mid-range $3 and $5 tickets.  Together, the new Jackpot series of tickets offer millions in potential winnings. Top prizes on the games range from $50,000 – which players can win from the $1 ticket – to $3 million, the top prize for the $20 Jackpot ticket.  With that kind of money, you could afford a whole fleet of new Kias… or maybe one much, much more expensive car.   For more information about the Jackpot series and the corresponding second chance contest, visit the Georgia Lottery website. New York Mega Millions Winner Claims Jackpot

Jan. 12, 2015 – For one lucky New York couple, 2015 is the start of a whole new life.  The winner of November’s $326 million Mega Millions jackpot came forward Monday to claim his prize. Harold Diamond, 80, of Wurtsboro, N.Y., arrived at a Valero gas station in style Monday, stepping out of a limousine along with his wife, Carol. The lucky couple were greeted at the gas station by a crowd of reporters, then introduced by the New York Lottery’s Yolanda Vega. Carol Diamond said the pair bought the lucky Mega Millions ticket after bad weather cut short a trip to nearby Middletown. The next day, Harold heard from a cashier that someone had purchased the single winning ticket in Circleville, N.Y., but didn’t have the winning ticket handy to check. So the jackpot realization had to wait until he got home.  “I put on Cable 6… and I saw the numbers.  I saw the first five numbers, so I immediately knew we won a million,” Diamond said. “When I saw the last number, I yelled up to my wife ‘I think we just won a few bucks,” he said, drawing laughter from the crowd on hand. The couple said they passed the ticket back and forth, double and triple-checking until they were sure of the big win. Diamond said that he’d like to take Carol on a trip to Hawaii to celebrate their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary, but didn’t mention any other plans for the windfall. The winning numbers Diamond matched in the Nov. 4 drawing were 9, 15, 24, 39, 41 and the Mega Ball was...

New Mexico Powerball Ticket Expires Soon

Dec. 11, 2014 – The New Mexico Lottery is asking Powerball players in the state to check their Powerball tickets, a $1 million prize won in the summer is about to expire if the winner doesn’t come forward with the lucky ticket. The winner matched all five white numbers drawn in the Sept. 27 Powerball drawing: 2, 11, 35, 52 and 54.  The Powerball that night was 13. The lucky winner has about two weeks to claim their $1 million prize, which expires on Christmas Eve, Dec. 21. (Talk about a stocking stuffer!) “If ever there was a time to clean out every nook and cranny in your home or car, this is it,” said David Bardem, New Mexico Lottery CEO.  “Someone was very lucky on drawing night, but they need to make their own luck right now by finding the ticket and turning it in for this amazing prize.” According to a New Mexico Lottery press release, the million-dollar ticket was sold at the Circle K located at 3622 State Highway 528 NW in Albuquerque. The press release also specifies that the winner bought their ticket at 1:57 p.m. the day of the drawing. Hopefully someone takes Bardem’s advice and finds their ticket before Christmas Eve.  If it’s you, don’t forget to sign the back of your ticket immediately, then keep it in a safe – but memorable – place until you’re ready to pick up your million bucks....

Texas Mega Millions Prize Expires Soon

Dec. 9, 2014 – A Mega Millions player in Texas won’t be able to call themselves lucky for much longer – a second-prize winning ticket sold in June is set to expire next week if no winner comes forward to claim the prize. The $1 million ticket was purchased ahead of the June 17, 2014 Mega Millions drawing, and the Texas Lottery gives winners 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. That means the winner has until  Sunday, Dec. 14 to come forward with the winning ticket, otherwise the $1 million prize will vanish. The Texas Lottery isn’t open on the weekends, however, so the winner has two options: claim the prize before 5 p.m. Friday, when the Lottery’s claims centers close, or they can fill out a claims form and mail in the lucky ticket.  As long as the claim is postmarked Dec. 14 or earlier, the winner can claim their million bucks. The winning numbers for the June 17 drawing were 10, 14, 24, 47, 60 and the Mega Ball was 3.  The Texas winner was the only player to win a second prize that day, and they bought their ticket at the Sellers Brothers Drive-In Grocery, located at 220 Preston St. in Pasadena. The drawing featured a $15 million starting jackpot as it was the first drawing after Kelsey Zachow, a single mom from Michigan, won a $66 million jackpot. Be sure to check your tickets – hopefully you’re a big winner and don’t know it yet!  If you do have winnings to claim, you can find the Texas Lottery’s claims form here, and a list of their claims centers...
