Powerball and Mega Millions Roll Through Weekend

Nov. 9, 2015 — Happy Monday lottery players!  Both the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots rolled over last weekend, kicking off a new “run” for Powerball and making the Mega Millions jackpot even more attractive. The Powerball jackpot reset last Wednesday after a player in Tennessee matched all six numbers, so Saturday night’s rollover took to $40 million starting prize to $50 million ahead of this Wednesday’s draw. Mega Millions’ top prize continued growing after Friday’s drawing failed to produce a winner.  Ahead of tomorrow’s draw, the jackpot has an estimated annuity value of $180 million, and carries with it a $108 million cash option. While there were no jackpot winners, lots of players were lucky enough to take home non-jackpot prizes this weekend. More than 475,000 Powerball players took home prizes, together winning a total of almost $4.2 million in non-jackpot prize money.  One of those winners, who bought their ticket in New Jersey, was lucky enough to match all five white numbers, winning $1 million. Friday’s Mega Millions drawing also made one new millionaire; a ticket purchased in South Carolina matched the five white numbers to win the $1 million second prize.  Along with that winner there were almost 2 million more players who were able to match a winning combination of numbers. Congratulations to all of this weekend’s winners.  Powerball and Mega Millions continue this week, starting tomorrow (Nov. 10, 2015) with Mega Millions. Remember – you can’t win if you don’t play!...

Along the way some 2.7 million Mega Millions players won prizes – about 1.38 million players won Saturday and another 1.3 million players won Tuesday night. Dec. 5, 2014 – Welcome back from Thanksgiving!  Hopefully you had a long weekend like the LotteryHUB team, but now we’re all back and with us comes another LotteryHUB Weekly Review. The first week of December has been exciting!  At the tail end of November, one player in Washington won a $90 million Powerball jackpot, and the lucky winner has already claimed her prize.  More on that in the Weekly Jackpot Update below. And since the twelfth month is here and 2014 is almost gone, we’ve started doing some counting.  This week on the LotteryHUB app, we tallied up the luckiest states and the luckiest types of retailers in the country.  You can find those videos below in the Weekly Game News. Also in Game News, one New Yorker had better hurry, there’s less than a week until a big prize goes from lucky to lost. But before we get to that, let’s look back at this week’s jackpot happenings.   Weekly Jackpot Update The Mega Millions jackpot is fast closing in on the $100 million mark.  Tonight’s Mega Millions drawing will feature an estimated $80 million jackpot with a $49 million cash value. Though the jackpot rolled over again Tuesday night, it made winners of about 1.27 million players who together won more than $3.1 million in non-jackpot winnings. Saturday was a fairly lucky night as well, making 1.1 million winners who together won about $2.5 million in non-jackpot prizes. Unfortunately, however, there were no new millionaires made in either drawing, so keep your fingers crossed when you pick up your tickets or watch the drawing tonight – someone has to break the new millionaire dry spell. That wasn’t a problem for Powerball this week – along with the jackpot winner in Washington there were three other millionaires made in Virginia, New Mexico and Rhode Island, and a fourth second-prize winner in California. All of those big wins came Saturday night along; about 400,000 other Powerball players won prizes and the drawing’s total...

Nov. 21, 2014 – There’s just one week left before Thanksgiving, which means that a jackpot win this week could make for a record-breaking Thanksgiving feast next week. We tallied up all the turkey and cranberry sauce you could afford – check out the biggest shopping list ever right here. The week before Thanksgiving is always American Education Week, so we took a minute this week to remind LotteryHUB fans that every dollar spent on lottery games helps make education better.  Check out our video for National Education Week right here. Speaking of support for education, Powerball and Mega Millions players contributed a lot this week, including one lucky jackpot winner who stopped by the Missouri Lottery office to claim a $202 million jackpot. More on the big win just below.   Weekly Jackpot Update   Before we cover the mysterious jackpot winner who claimed their prize this week, let’s go over the numbers – it was a good week for Mega Millions and Powerball players all across the country. More than 2 million Mega Millions players won prizes this week, though none of them were able to hit the jackpot. This week’s winners were able to score a total of more than $5.2 million in non-jackpot prizes, and one player was lucky enough to match all five white numbers to win a second prize this week. That lucky ticket was sold in Calif. and, according to the California Lottery’s website, is worth about $465,000. California was a lucky place to be this week; two other California Lottery players won second prizes playing Powerball this week, one last Saturday and one on Wednesday. The ticket sold for Saturday’s drawing is worth just less than $1 million, and Wednesday’s winner will receive about $220,000. A third Powerball player from Washington also won a second prize this week and will receive Powerball’s normal $1 million second prize. Along with those big winners there were almost 750,000 other players lucky enough to score a prize, and all...
