Beginner’s Luck Brings in $1 Million

June 12, 2013 – This morning, one Washington man with incredible luck collected the $1 million prize he won on the May 18 Powerball drawing – the first time he’d ever bought a Powerball ticket.

Washington’s Lottery did not release the man’s name, but a spokesperson for the Lottery provided some information to the Bothell Reporter.

The lucky Powerball newbie is from Kenmore, Wash., and only discovered he’d won a $1 million prize after taking the ticket to a store to be checked.

He told the Lottery that before going to the store to check his ticket, his wife kissed it for luck.  “So she’ll be doing that every time now,” he added.

The new millionaire plans to take a vacation with his wife and twin daughters, and will use the rest to buy a new home and invest in college for the girls and retirement for he and his wife.  For now, both plan to keep working.

The man said that he normally plays Mega Millions and Lotto every Friday, but after beginner’s luck got him the million-dollar prize, he said he’ll be “adding Powerball to the mix.”
